People who love equestrian sport might as well choose warmblood horses. Warmbloods are those horse breeds from Europe and are registered with organizations. To breed horses for equestrian sports, these organizations are known to adhere to open studbook policies and selection. By choosing warmbloods, you can be assured that your choice is one of the best breeds and an excellent horse sport. Want to be the best at equestrian sports? Choose the Dutch Warmbloods first.
Before the Second World War, the Netherlands had two types of utility horses and these were the Gelderlanders and the Groningen. The Gelderlanders were bred in the south registered under the Gelderlander Horse Studbook in 1925 while the Groningens were bred in the north under the NWP in 1943. The Groningens are warmblooded horses and usually come in solid black, brown or dark bay colors and are larger and heavier. On the other hand, the Gelderlands come in chestnut colors with flashy white markings and medium stature.
These two breeds were combined and together they formed the Royal Warmblood Horse Studbook of the Netherlands (KWPN). The advent of tractors and cars replaced the horses after the war. They were no longer considered a necessity, but a luxury. In the early 1950s, French bred L'Invasion, Holsteiner Normann, French-bred L'Invasion and Holsteiner Normann were imported so the Dutch could modify their type of horses. These breeds contributed to characteristics and dispositions of the Dutch Warmblood. Presently, the KWPN is now comprised of four sections, specifically, the Gelderlander, the Tuigpaard or Dutch Harness Horse, and riding horses bred for dressage or show jumping purposes.
Dutch Warmblood mares stand at least 15.2 hands high while the stallions are at least 15.3 hands high. Most of these breeds come in colors like black, brown, bay, chestnut, grey and in white markings. They have long powerful legs with expressive heads. They have well muscled necks and hindquarters, and deep chest. They are both good and intelligent.
Dutch Warmbloods are excellent at dressage and show jumping. These are illustrated in their rankings. For example, in 2007, they were ranked # 1 in jumping by the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH). In the same year also, they were ranked # 2 in dressage in the WBFSH rankings. Aside from this, they are also used for hunting.Advertise Your Horse For Sale
